Conditioning for Generalized Weakness

Conditioning for Generalized Weakness

Conditions for general weakness is the most common medical complaint of seniors in the United States characterized by weakness of multiple muscles throughout the body. Some of the causes of generalized weakness can result from viral or bacterial infections from a bad cold or pneumonia, prolonged hospital stay or after a fall resulting in prolonged inactivity, and/or an exacerbation of chronic illness resulting in prolonged bed rest.

Generalized weakness is a common cause for falls because of not having enough strength to be able to keep yourself upright when you lose your balance or if your knees buckle and give way. Participation in a physical therapy program can teach you how to exercise safely, improve function, improve balance and restore overall strength so you can return to your prior level of function and get you back to doing activities you love.
